Nearly two days after the initial release of Windows Live Messenger a new version it now available to download. The version build, 8.0.0792 was released just a few minutes ago, so far the reasons for it being here are unknown but we can assume it contains bug fixes. However, there is one problem. The installer script appears to be corrupt (how silly). I mean a new version is out for millions to download and it won't work, d'oh. Then again it may not of ever meant to be released, more news on this build soon.

Edit: It appears to only effect the english version, other languages work fine.
Edit 2: According to my sources it is for a Yahoo! Messenger intergration upgrade. It explains why the messenger servers keep going down in the last hour. But this is not confirmed and therefore maybe wrong. Let's hope it's not.

Has someone edited my post about my confirmation of build 792? Or is it that I can't remember what I typed? (the "looks like the source has" part, I'm sure it's changed).

Hi Chris, I downloaded the file from mess.be which had the link to download.microsoft.com Install_Messenger.exe, it works fine build 792 but nothing really different. Also, it seems it hasn't been removed, just looks like the source has, not the file itself (direct link).

no sign of more yahoo! integration but I found this (not in the program):
"You may see two entries for the same contact. This can occur when you add a Messenger contact that uses both Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger. To determine if a contact is using Yahoo! Messenger:
Open a conversation window in Messenger. If there is a Yahoo! Messenger icon under the contact's display picture, they are using Yahoo! Messenger.
Hover your mouse over the contact's name in the main Messenger window. If their e-mail address is followed by Yahoo!, they are using Yahoo! Messenger."

I've just installed it, but can't access the contact list with the MSN Network having problems. There must have been some last minute bug fixes.
