Microsoft says: Get off our beta!

Over at the Messenger Says blog (the Windows Live Messenger team blog) users have been told to not use the leaked beta of Windows Live Messenger 8.1.

Nicole has requested people not to "install builds if you are not part of the Beta" or "install builds that are not from Microsoft". She also points people to connect.microsoft.com if they want to sign up to be a beta tester in the future.

Leaked betas have nearly always been a problem in the past but with the popularity of Messenger growing and more people with high speed internet finding it easier to download and update their software to the latest version it seems that the 8.1 beta is being used too much for comfort. Or just maybe there is a little something hidden in this build that they want to monitor and control the use of and not have too many people using to begin with (as usual with big new features).
