Windows Live Messenger promotion

It looks like Microsoft are really trying to get users prepared for the upgrade from MSN Messenger to Windows Live Messenger later this year.

Two new sites have recently been launched to help with promotion, along with the recently launched Insider Club.

The first site is called The Way The News Spreads, but currently only offers a download link to Messenger. It would appear that this is targeted at teenagers, some of the main users of MSN Messenger, judging by the style and the fact the link to the download contains the word teen. This site appears to be using the 'word of mouth' marketing strategy, recently successfully used with the Origami UMPC, that relies on users spreading the 'hype'.

The second is a flash site based at imagine-msn.com that details some of the new features in Windows Live Messenger. The site gives information about "the future of MSN Messenger".
