So, there I am just viewing some messenger related forums looking for something unique to add to the downloads database, and by shear accident answering a support request someone posted this add-on and it is just simply wonderful, my friends love what it does and think it is totally funky.

So, what is it? Well if you visit forums often, you find people having their currently playing song in their avatar and it shows the artist's album cover along side it. I have always found that snazzy, and wanted to do it myself. Well now, you can do it using your now playing option in MSN and Windows Live Messenger to change your display picture to show your currently playing song.

Currently iTunes2MSN is only well for iTunes, but support for Windows Media Player and other players are being added and I must say I love this thing. When you change song your display picture changes to match that album cover, assuming you have a cover for that song. On top of that, the program is open source so you can learn from it, and if you are an iTunes fan, I highly suggest you use it. This summer will see a new fresh re-code, which will include uploading stats to web servers etc. I highly recommend this to anybody.

lol no, that was be going on, really dodgy like. Basicially you play a song on iTunes, if it has album art on that song it will set it as your display picture.

so does this actually make the thing for forum signatures?? or do you have to use a service like messlabs or webdp to generate a sig using your messenger dp (which would be the album artwork)... ?? i've been trying to use my rss info from web2messenger to detect whether i'm playing music and then get the album cover image to go with the song into a web page if i am listening but it is proving hard, and i am wondering if this can help me *-) ...
