- Technology news website Neowin claimed Windows Live Messenger 2010 would contain full screen advertisements. Back in December I wrote a comment post asking whether Messenger advertisements were becoming too obstructive and many users agreed that they were. Maybe Neowin's joke may one day become a reality?
- Messenger Plus! Live took similar direction aimed at creating negative news, claiming that thanks to a deal with Kaspersky the software would no longer be free and require a licence to operate. With recent news that the application has took a new direction under Yuna Software, the post could well of contained some merit. Honestly, as one of the first things I read on the day, I believed it was true (even if it was just for a second) before it hit me it was April 1st. The irony however, is just to obvious to miss, with the problems the add-on has faced with various security suites, mostly notably Windows Defender.
- Mynetx's blog reported that Microsoft are planning on introducing paid badges to support campaigns or certain teams you may support. I know Microsoft like users to pay for useless customisation (*cough* Xbox Live avatars) but even they wouldn't do something like this.
So what about us? Well I'm afraid I wasn't around much on Thursday to continue with our tradition, but rest assured it will return next year.
