MSN Spaces changing urls: explained

Posted by chris on 26 May 2006 (1630 views)
Earlier absorbation posted about MSN Space changing their url's, once again. There was no reason reported why, and the whole update seemed pointless. Well, The MSN Spaces team have blogged why the changes are happening.

Because of the large amount of users they needed to ensure that spaces can be deployed in multiple datacenters without including the datacenters name. So, they have developed a DNS system to allow requests to be sent to the right datacenter without a big url. Therefore explaining the change in url. So the change is a good thing, lets just hope it does not change once again.
