If you're a web developer then there are several interesting websites and resources out there to help you integrate Windows Live Messenger with your site.
This post aims to be a quick reference to some of the most helpful bits of information. If you think there is anything that I've missed off that should be added to the list please leave a comment to this post with the URL. Also, please note that these resources are only about the web technologies available, not things for the client such as Agents, Alerts or Activities, and not for semi-related things like the Contacts Control.

I previously mentioned my excitement for IM control, a new service from Windows Live that allows webmasters to chat to their users anonymously through Messenger. I knew I would be loving this new service, but only if it was implemented well.
So how is it? Well it works, things are not restricted and I will be using it as a feature on this website. However, little annoyances prevent you from getting the full benefit of this great idea.
First entering a image verification code is not ideal, it's too hard to read and fiddly to use. Secondly I found it not working on several occasions, but with no explanation why. I just received an error message telling me to sign in again and again and again. Finally the HTML code is not ideal as it uses iframes which are ancient. This is not a problem for normal users, but this is designed to attract webmasters who see iframes as the devil of the modern web page.
IM control is not perfect but it is a useful tool for webmasters. Users can send me messages conveniently to my Messenger account. I will be using this simply because it is a great idea.

Some cool integration news between Windows Live Messenger and your website/ blog has been posted over at LiveSide. They obtained information about an online application called 'Messenger IM Control' at Mix UK. The feature basically allows you and your website readers to contact you anomalously through Messenger:
I think the screenshots posted explain this feature very well. You can also view them at this gallery. I'll post more news on this feature when I get it. Messenger Stuff will be using it and showing you examples when it becomes available.

When the feature becomes available, you would go to the settings page on the net for it and select that you would like to enable this feature, you can then create the html that will go on your website/blog. This will allow people to see when you're online and allow them to then start up a conversation with you.
