As we announced on Saturday, the new version does not have any new features but instead fixes a lot of bugs, and is compatible with the latest 8.1 beta of Windows Live Messenger.
In the same news post, Patchou also publically discussed his MVP award for the first time since its active status was revoked and revealed that he will be running a new contest soon, based around Messenger Plus! Live scripts.

Discussion about the announcement
From what I have counted there are 21 noticeable changes, mainly to RTL languages, bug fixes and advancements on scripting. The Yahoo! integration has also been updated, hopefully to fix any other bugs users were having. That's it, Patchou did not hint a release date, but 4.10 is really coming together now, small changes can make big differences to some users.

As a tester of the program I can say we have received a few new builds, but nothing since mid September now. The update was meant to be out ages ago, fixing bugs and having compatibility for the new Windows Live Messenger 8.1. However Patchou, the creator of the program, seems to have disappeared ...
Well not really, he's alive, he is just a lot more social at the moment. Messenger Plus! Live took a big chunk out of his life and now he is just getting it back. I'm sure work on his software will start again when his passion about Messenger comes back. Also he didn't want to put so much effort in to such for a buggy beta of Messenger.
I just thought I would give some of you Plus! freaks an update of what is going on.

The build is designed to fix bugs in Messenger Plus! Live, but with so many people using the 8.1 builds of Windows Live Messenger, Patchou fears Messenger Plus! will receive the blame at random Messenger crashes.
Patchou informed testers of this information when showing them a new build, which adds to the scripting interface and fixes small bugs in the program. No release date has yet been mentioned, it looks like we have to wait until Windows Live Messenger 8.1 is in a better place.

Over at the Messenger Plus! forums Patchou has said:
I'm already working on the update, as soon as things seem to start working I send a beta to the usual testers and 4.02 will then be released publicly as soon as it becomes possible (with some luck, in 8 days from now on saturday).
It is still unclear as yet whether the new version will support the new Windows Live Messenger 8.1 beta that started yesterday as the current version, Messenger Plus! Live 4.01, does not. However, it is thought that it probably will be compatible.
The program is, to sum up, fantastic, it's clean, works great and has some amazing features. If you use or have used Screenshot Sender in the past you would of knew that parts were buggy. Well that seems to of been stamped out, I can save and even upload screenshots without hassle. I can't say much more than try it, it has got to be the most professional script for Messenger Plus! Live so far.

Some of you may of heard of Screenshot Sender, most likely version 3 by Dempsey. It was probably the second most popular plugin for Messenger Plus! for a few years now, due to its vast amount of useful features. The program enabled you to take print screens of your messenger windows, desktop or even someone's webcam from a touch of a button and send the screenshot to your contact or save it to a directory of your choice. It was very helpful and easy to use, I simply loved it.
Over time Matty joined the project and started work on a new update to the plugin. It was going well, I mean really well, new features, better code, the works. Then Messenger Plus! Live scripts were introduced and because he and Dempsey were beta testers, they started working on Screenshot Sender 4, in a form of a script. Matty is probably the main coder of the project at the moment, Dempsey is far too busy with other things, however progress on the project is still improving ...
Screenshot Sender 4 will be entirely coded in Jscript, to show how powerful Plus! scripting can be. It maybe harder and take longer, but the end result will be great. I asked Matty a few questions about the project and he told me some interesting stuff:
For the first release there wont be much as it takes awhile to re-code a project, as you have previously seen from Messenger Plus! Live. However eventually most of the features will be added back at one point or another.
For now the ones I/we will work most on are Capturing of active windows, full screen, uploading screenshots once they have been saved, using hotkeys to capture windows and send them to all available contacts (that are online), selecting from contacts in a conversation to send the screenshot too.
Release dates and betas have yet to be discussed we don't want to get too ahead of ourselves. But as previously done with prior versions which have been released to the public we just may. Also I am going to probably add a custom updater never before seen in Plus! Scripts, I hope peoples reaction to it is a good one, lets say every file has the potential of being updated without having to re-download an entire Plus! Script Pack.

Another new feature I told you about was the quick icon panel. It has returned and is better than ever, you can read more about it here. Other updates include fixes to the scripting engine, making it Yahoo! Messenger compatible when detecting your contacts.
It may not seem much of an update but it is essential as major bugs have been fixed. Patchou can finally start relaxing and taking a break now before he starts coding some brand new features.
Update: Well it seems the release did not happen, probably due to some unexpected delays. Yahoo! integration has probably slowed the release down as Patchou has to fix some bugs and will not release until Messenger Plus! Live is working 100% properly. Saturday was the expected release date, but now it could be late Sunday or Monday, or even later if some last minute bugs bop up. Remember there was no official statement from Patchou himself. Meaning the expected release can vary alot, especially when Windows Live Messenger makes major changes to it's protocol.

A lot of programs stopped Messenger Plus! Live from running due to how they patched messenger in bad ways, however Patchou has allowed compatibility with them, some examples that caused such conflicts are Clean Messenger and Mess Patch. Also some scripting bugs have been fixed and of course the most nagged about feature is back ...
The custom emoticon panel has returned and is looking great. It now works much better and smoother than before. It also matches Windows Live Messenger's design and the panel is a lot more customisable. Anyway the screenshots will reveal all, but I can say I am glad this feature is back, I like many users have missed it dearly.
We can expect a few updates to be coming soon. Remember being an entire re-code of Messenger Plus! means new bugs could be present and Patchou needs to work hard on fixing these and adding the features everyone loves before he can take a break. The official build will arrive next week, when it is released I will be sure to post about it as soon as I know.
