Patchou tells users the story of Messenger Plus!

Messenger Plus! Live is the most popular and successful add-on for Windows Live Messenger which has had a long and fruitful history. It is responsible in an indirect way for the start of Messenger Stuff, as it was the Messenger Plus! community that led me to know more about MSN Messenger when I joined it back in February 2005. So I thought I would forward Patchou's somewhat long, yet interesting read into the story of Messenger Plus!

Read the Messenger Plus! Story

Patchou had this to say to his users and supporters within the Messenger community:

Thank you all, one last time, for all the support you've given me for such a long time. It's been a terrific ride and I hope it will continue on the same direction for many years to come. I wrote this text as much for visitors to read it as I wrote it for myself so thank you for your time and take care of yourselves.

Messenger Plus! 3 update fixes OS compatibility issues

Patchou has released a small update for Messenger Plus! 3. Due to it being recompiled early this year with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, it meant that older operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows 98 would not be able to run it. The update corrects this problem and it is now available for download:

It's not everyday that I find myself recompiling an old friend. Messenger Plus! 3 had been recompiled early this year with Visual Studio 2008 and because I do not test any of my products in Windows 98 anymore, I had the bad surprise today to learn that VS2008 does not produce compatible binaries for older operating systems. Long story short, it meant that Messenger Plus! 3 couldn't be installed on some older versions of Windows while it should have.

The problem has been fixed so if you're one of those still forced to use Windows 98 or Windows Me on a regular basis, you can now download the updated version of Messenger Plus! 3 on this web site which will continue to work beautifully with MSN Messenger.

Messenger Plus! 3.63.148 released!

A small update of the most notorious MSN Messenger add-on has been released today mainly focusing allowing Messenger Plus! and Messenger Plus! Live to work on the same system with no troubles. The build 362 was meant to do this but unexpectly Messenger Plus! Live conflicted. Now 363 should fix this problem for the future.

With the update comes the new sponsor installation. It is safer, than ever, now not adding a toolbar to Internet Explorer. If you have the sponsor installed on your PC in add/ remove programs to says "Messenger Plus! & Sponsor", a nice little touch don't you think?

Finally, Patchou has said Messenger Plus! is compatible with MSN Messenger versions 4-7, so you can enjoy the program on any great version of MSN Messenger. Messenger Plus! Live will hopefully be released in a month from now, and the new betas we are receiving are getting better and better.
