There have been several small developments over the past week, mostly involving the new public beta of Windows Live Messenger 9. Here is the stuff that may not warrant a full news post, but we didn't want to slip under the net:
- The MessengerSays blog, the official blog of Windows Live Messenger, has gone through the details of the Wave 3 update explaining each new feature in depth, complete with screenshots and even videos.
- A-Patch has been updated for the Wave 3 beta version. Following concern over the future development of skins and patches, the popular Messenger patching application has found a walk-a-round and has been updated to include a vast amount of features. For those of you who hate ads, or certain things within Messenger, this is your chance to block them out.
- The Windows Live Messenger library has been updated to version 2.5 which improves on the web API of the program, giving web developers more access to the workings of the Messenger servers.
- Patchou has commented on a version of Messenger Plus! Live for Windows Live Messenger 9. He told users: "I'll start working on it today [Wednesday 17/9] but I can't say yet if I'll release something publicly before the final version is released by Microsoft or not (all of that depends on when they'll actually release a final)."
- LiveSide have revealed how they found the Wave 3 download links, and defended themselves for making them public. I believe they are still very bitter about their DMCA notice they received a few weeks ago (as are we), and have tried to persuade Microsoft to have better PR relations. They make a valid point.
Rolando has done it, an update to MessPatch Light has been released for the new Windows Live Messenger Wave 3 beta. Release notes:

After almost a year of no updates, you can now get back in action with the new MessPatch Light: integrated into the website (for all of you popuphobic messers) and updated to work with the new beta (build 14.0.5027.908) released just a couple of days ago.
So what's new you ask?
- Updated to work with Windows Live Messenger 14.0.5027.908.
- Added "Remove partner links" option for versions 8.5.x and 9.0.x.
- Fixed "Disable Windows Live Spaces Integration" for all versions.
Big daddy Mess Patch is being impeded by some restrictions introduced in the new release, meanwhile you can get your patch on with the new MessPatch Light (also known as messy-poo;))
PS: As a side effect of the aforementioned "restrictions", MessPatch Light will not remove the advertisement banner from the contact list. The text advertisement in the conversation windows however, is unaffected.

Just a quick post here to let you know you can patch all the elements you don't like out of the M1 build of Windows Live Messenger 9 leaked a couple of days ago.
The new version is missing some features, due to the dramatic changes Windows Live Messenger 9 has created. It sure feels nice to remove all the advertisements, buttons, etc, you don't want to look at and that bloat up Messenger. Then again you probably get more out of the vast array of skins for Windows Live Messenger 8.5, I know I've already gone back to using Oil Slick.

In follow up to yesterday's news, Windows Live Installer has been released and comes with the installation of Windows Live Messenger 8.5 beta 2 (build 8.5.1288).
So what's new? Well nothing really noticeable, just bug fixes according to the offical Messenger blog. Nevertheless, the build is just really to attract users to the new installer as there is no separate download at the moment, unless you download the files below. Here are some facts about the update:
Personally, beta is still bloated and annoying to use for me. All my settings have been modified and I'm finding more and more annoying little bugs. If this is what the finished product will be I'm sticking with 8.1. I'm sure these will be addressed by the final release though.

- Windows Live Installer has come under very heavy criticism, all comments tend to be negative, I believe a lot of this comes down to the speed and ease of use of the program.
- It is not compatible with x64 editions of Windows. Unless you try this hack.
- A-Patch and Mess Patch have been updated to work with the new Windows Live Messenger beta.
- Messenger Plus! Live is fully compatible with the new build according to creator Patchou.

The creator of the biggest and most popular add-on for MSN/ Windows Live Messenger, Patchou has told his forum members that he is working on the next milestone version of Messenger Plus! Live:
It has been over a year since the initial release of Messenger Plus! Live 4.00 and we have not seen many big new features since. Minor updates and contests are fine while we are kept waiting, but after a long holiday from the stress of creating Messenger Plus! Live it appears development is back into full swing again.

Hello,
summer is passing by and I just realized that it's been a while since the last news post. For those of you wondering, I'm not spending my days enjoying the sun outside. I enjoy it inside, with my keyboard, working on a new version of Messenger Plus! Live. This version will be a new major update (probably labelled 4.50) and I'm doing my best to make it will be worth its weight of megabytes.
The list of improvements cannot be talked about immediately as many things are still being worked on, however, I can safely say that the update will be released sometime this fall. I'll keep you posted with a screenshot or two when possible. Until then, if you have any good suggestion or ideas to improve Messenger, it's time to talk about them on the forum.

Patching Messenger is a must for me, I hate bloat and Messenger is really easy to customise by changing its resources. MessPatch Light is a great new way to patch Messenger, despite its lack of features, limitations on Windows Vista, and people's lack of trust for Java applications having so much access, you cannot deny this will make patching Messenger easier than ever.
It basically allows you to patch Messenger from your web browser, it is simple, easy and saves time. It may be early days yet, but it does have potential. Unfortunately mess.be have failed to provide a permalink to the website, but it is on the left hand side of the home page.
