Who remembers October 12th last year? Well it then was announced MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger buddies could contact and send instant messages to each other from either client. The change was sweeping talk in the messenger world for a while, instant messengers have never worked together much before and this was a definite improvement for the IM world.
Amazingly, 8 months later it still is in development, and is becoming an urgent rush to get finished before Windows Live Messenger becomes official. The feature is now working, but some things still need to be coded, as well as some severe internal testing. The problem with something like this is, two separate clients from separate companies need to update certain areas of their program and servers, whilst making it as easy as possible for the users. This can be a challenge.
Remember this is a huge and hard feature to code. Secret development has been on this project for over a year and a half now, and when it is out it should be worth it. Hopefully we can see some screenshots of this in action soon.
