Zune 2.5 + WLM (finally) = now playing integration
Posted by the andyman on Sun 11 May 2008 (18:19 GMT)
Just a quick note to let you know that the recently updated Zune software now supports Windows Live Messenger's "show what I'm listening to" personal message feature.

If you're fed up with you computer's media player looking like a spreadsheet or want to try something fresh for your music, pictures and videos then I thoroughly recommend giving the Zune software a try.

Whether you have a Zune device or not (which is more likely to be the case due to its current US exclusivity) you can give version 2.5 of the software a try for all your basic media player features and a lot more, including social features, marketplace integration and a great interface.

Sync Firefox and Messenger with Now Playing X
Posted by absorbation on Mon 17 Sep 2007 (17:33 GMT)
I love reading emails about new Messenger add-ons, mainly because it shows people are still interested in creating new and unique programs and that you can still be creative with Messenger. Yesterday I was told about Now Playing X, a Firefox extension that shows what video content you are playing through Windows Live Messenger's What I'm Listening to feature.

You can easily add your favourite sites through options. Page title or specific element can be used as now playing text source. YouTube is supported by default.

Using the extension is simple, just a couple of clicks and you're done. This is a well designed, easy to use program that anyone can get to grips with. So if you use Mozilla Firefox as your web browser I highly recommend it.

There are similar scripts for Messenger Plus! Live. Check out Music Now Playing and uTorrent script.
